Short version: Code Pirate is a VS Code extension. You bring your own API keys and pay your AI providers directly. We’re not responsible for what those providers do. The extension is provided as-is during beta. Be cool.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Code Pirate, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t install it. Simple.

2. What Code Pirate Is

Code Pirate is a VS Code extension that routes AI requests directly from your editor to AI providers of your choosing using API keys you supply. We are a software tool, not an AI provider, not a data broker, and not a subscription middleman.

We do not provide AI models. We do not host inference. We do not store your prompts or API keys.

3. Your API Keys & Third-Party Providers

You are responsible for obtaining API keys from third-party providers (OpenRouter, Anthropic, Groq, etc.) and for complying with their respective terms of service. Code Pirate is not affiliated with any of these providers.

You are responsible for any costs incurred through your API key usage. Code Pirate provides cost estimates via the Captain’s Ledger feature, but these are estimates based on published pricing and may not exactly match your provider’s invoice. Always verify costs with your provider directly.

4. Free Core & Beta Status

The Free Core tier of Code Pirate is free, indefinitely. We commit to never paywalling features that are currently free.

The extension is currently in beta. This means:

  • Features may change, be added, or be removed
  • Bugs exist. We’re fixing them.
  • The extension is provided as-is without warranty of any kind

Use in production environments is at your own discretion. Always review AI-generated code before applying it to your codebase.

5. Lifetime Pirate License

The Lifetime Pirate license grants you access to all Pro features available at the time of purchase, plus future Pro features shipped during the beta period. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of the Code Pirate product — if we ever sunset the product, lifetime license holders will receive at minimum 12 months notice.

Lifetime licenses are non-transferable and non-refundable after 14 days from purchase.

Waitlist only (current): Until the Lemon Squeezy store is live, submitting your email via the Lifetime Pirate form reserves your spot. No charge is made until the store opens and you complete a purchase.

6. Pro Subscription (Coming Soon)

When the Pro subscription launches, it will be billed monthly or annually through Lemon Squeezy. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard — access continues until the end of the current billing period.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use Code Pirate to:

  • Generate content that violates applicable law or third-party rights
  • Attempt to circumvent API rate limits or terms of service of any AI provider
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or resell the extension
  • Use a single license key across multiple users (one key per user)

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Code Pirate is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no warranty that the extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements. AI outputs are generated by third-party models — we are not responsible for their accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CodePirate.cc and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the extension or the AI outputs it facilitates, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Code Pirate shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction. We’ll always try to resolve disputes informally first — email us at [email protected].

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced via the website and/or email to Pro/Lifetime license holders. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
